Author Guidelines

1. Manuscript Submission Overview

Scope and Policy

The European Journal of Innovative Medical Research (EURJIMR) publishes high-quality original studies, systematic reviews, meta-analyses, case reports, surgical techniques, and clinical images in all fields of medicine and healthcare innovation. Submissions must be original, not published previously, and not under consideration elsewhere.

Submission System

Manuscripts must be submitted electronically through the online submission platform (www.ejimr.org). The corresponding author is responsible for ensuring that all co-authors have approved the final manuscript.

Manuscript Types

  • Original Research Articles: Full reports of novel studies with structured abstract.

  • Review Articles: Comprehensive and critical analyses of current knowledge.

  • Case Reports: Reports of rare or instructive clinical cases.

  • Short Communications / Letters: Brief reports, comments, or technical notes.

  • Surgical Techniques: Detailed descriptions of innovative procedures.

  • Original Clinical Images: Concise image-based case presentations.

2. Manuscript Preparation

Language and Format

Manuscripts must be written in clear English. Turkish submissions are accepted if accompanied by an English abstract.
Text must be prepared in Microsoft Word, Times New Roman font, 11-point, 1.5-line spacing, justified.
Figures must be high-resolution (≥300 dpi) in JPG, JPEG, or PNG format.

Article Structure

Front Matter: Title, author list, affiliations, abstract, and keywords.
Main Text: Introduction, Materials and Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusions.
Back Matter: Author Contributions, Funding, Institutional Review Board Statement, Informed Consent, Data Availability, Acknowledgments, Conflicts of Interest, References.

Title Page

Authors are required to prepare the title page in accordance with the journal’s standardized template. Please download and use the official title page template when submitting to the European Journal of Innovative Medical Research (EURJIMR).

Include:

  • Article type and title (concise and descriptive).

  • Full author names, institutional affiliations, and ORCID iDs.

  • Corresponding author’s contact information (email, phone, address).

  • Ethics approval (committee name, approval number, and date).

  • Conflict of interest, funding statement, and author contribution statement.

  • Disclosure of prior presentation or preprint (if applicable).

3. Abstract and Keywords

  • Structured Abstract (for research): Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion.

  • Unstructured Abstract (for reviews, case reports): single paragraph, ≤250 words.

  • Keywords: 3–6 terms from Medical Subject Headings (MeSH).

4. References – AMA 11th Edition

EURJIMR follows the American Medical Association (AMA) 11th Edition style.

  • References are numbered consecutively in the order cited.

  • Use superscript Arabic numerals outside punctuation (e.g., “surgery improves outcomes.¹”).

  • List all references numerically at the end of the text.

5. Ethical Principles

Human and Animal Research

  • All studies involving humans must comply with the Declaration of Helsinki (2013).

  • Animal research must follow ARRIVE and ICLAS guidelines.

  • Ethics approval (committee name, approval number, date) must be stated in Methods and on the Title Page.

  • Case reports require written informed consent from the patient or guardian.

Clinical Trials

Clinical trials must be registered in a recognized database (e.g., ClinicalTrials.gov or EU Clinical Trials Register), with the registration number included in the manuscript.

Data and Image Integrity

Image manipulation that alters data is prohibited. Authors may be required to submit original uncropped images or raw datasets upon request.

6. Authorship and Contributions

Authorship must meet ICMJE criteria:

  1. Substantial contribution to conception, design, data acquisition, or analysis.

  2. Drafting or critically revising the work.

  3. Final approval of the version to be published.

  4. Agreement to be accountable for all aspects of the work.

Author contributions must be described using the CRediT taxonomy, e.g.:

Conceptualization: M.B.T.; Methodology: M.B.T. and J.S.; Writing – Original Draft: M.B.T.; Writing – Review & Editing: J.S.

Requests to add or remove authors after submission require written approval from all authors.

7. Conflict of Interest and Funding

All potential conflicts (financial or personal) must be disclosed in a Conflicts of Interest section.
If none exist, include:

The authors declare no conflicts of interest.

Funding details should be stated clearly:

This research was funded by [Funder Name, Grant Number].
or
This research received no external funding.

8. Research Data and Supplementary Material

Authors are encouraged to make datasets, code, and supplementary materials publicly available in trusted repositories (e.g., Zenodo, Figshare, TÜBİTAK Aperta).
A Data Availability Statement is required in all manuscripts. Examples:

  • Data are available in [repository name, DOI].

  • Data available on request due to ethical restrictions.

9. Peer Review Process

All submissions undergo double-blind peer review by at least two experts.
Decisions: Accept, Minor Revision, Major Revision, or Reject.
Authors must provide detailed, point-by-point responses to reviewer comments.

10. Publication Ethics

EURJIMR adheres to COPE and ICMJE guidelines.

  • Duplicate submission, plagiarism, or fabricated data will result in rejection or retraction.

  • All manuscripts are screened with plagiarism detection software.

  • Authors must promptly notify the journal of significant errors after publication.

  • Dual-use or unethical research will not be accepted.

11. Editorial Independence

Editorial decisions are made solely based on scientific merit, originality, and ethical compliance. Neither sponsors nor publishers influence acceptance decisions.

12. Submission Checklist

Before submission, confirm that:

  • The manuscript is original and not under review elsewhere.

  • All authors meet ICMJE authorship criteria.

  • Ethical approval and consent statements are included.

  • Figures and tables are high-quality and properly numbered.

  • References follow AMA 11th style.

  • The cover letter explains the study’s novelty and significance.

 

Please ensure that all files required for editorial processing and peer review are uploaded at the time of submission. The following documents are required:

  1. Main Manuscript (Blinded Version)

    • The manuscript must be anonymized for double-blind peer review.

    • Remove author names, affiliations, acknowledgments, and identifying metadata.

  3. Title Page

    • Include full author names, institutional affiliations, and ORCID iDs.

    • Provide statements regarding funding support, ethical approval, patient consent, author contributions, and conflicts of interest.

  4. Cover Letter

    • Briefly state the significance of the submission and confirm originality and exclusive submission to this journal.

  5. Ethical Documentation (Required for Researches on Human Subjects)

    • Original Articles: Include documentation of ethics committee approval, if required.

    • Case Reports: Include written informed consent from the patient or legal guardian.

  6. Supplementary Materials (if applicable)

    • Figures, tables, appendices, datasets, or additional supporting files.

    • High-resolution figures may be requested after initial review.

File Preparation Requirements:

  • Ensure all files are clearly labeled and submitted in accepted formats (e.g., DOCX, PDF, JPG, PNG, or TIFF).

  • Filenames should clearly indicate content (e.g., Manuscript_Blinded.docx, Figure1.png, ConsentForm.pdf).
